Canada 2016

Black bear Killer whale

In 2016 Roxana and I travelled for four weeks through Western Canada, with a side trip to Alaska. We started in Calgary and first went to the Rocky Mountains. In Banff I attended the ICOPS conference. Afterwards we visited Lake Louise and Moraine Lake and drove along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. Then we went north, from Dawson Creek along the Alaska Highway through northern British Columbia to the Yukon, and via Whitehorse and Carcross to Skagway in Alaska. From Haines we took the ferry to Juneau, and then through the Inside Passage, via Petersburg and Ketchikan to Prince Rupert, and from there on to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. On Vancouver Island we went to see humpback whales at Telegraph Cove and visited Pacific Rim National Park and Victoria, from where we took a boat to see killer whales. The trip ended in Vancouver.
An overview of our photos of this trip can be found here.

Of course I also went diving: at Hornby Island I made two dives in the cold, green water of the Strait of Georgia.
